Elgin Hotel Abbalicious Weekend – now cancelled

I am sorry to advise that the Elgin Hotel are unable to provide accomodation nor tickets to the Mamma Mia show, therefore the weekend is now cancelled. Before advising HALDS members I had actually phoned them 3 times to ensure that there was enough accomodation etc, but when I went to book, I was advised hotel was full and there were no tickets left for the show, I am sorry for any disappointment caused.

£10 per ticket – entrance to ticket holders only

Variety of music to suit all tastes including the Papa Bears band and Vale Royal Singers

Bring your own picnic/rug etc

Puddings & soft drinks available to purchase on the day

Gates open at 3.30pm, event starts at 4pm, until 7pm

Newsletter – March 2014 

Speaker – This month we invited along Bertha Brown who is a Pharmacist from Warrington who came along and gave a very interesting talk about what Pharmacies have to offer and to inform us about NHS care in the chemist. Please see separate page which will inform you about NHS care in the chemist.  

Funding –  I have applied for £2,000 funding from HBC for our monthly meetings, newsletters and overhead costs and also have applied for funding from Boshier-Hinton Foundation for social events.

AGM – Our AGM will be held on Monday 19th May at 1.30pm, please come along beforehand for lunch at 12.30 and general catch up (Originally the AGM was before our April meeting at 11am, but this has been cancelled due to change of venue for meetings) 

Dobies Garden Centre  – Monday 12th May –   Dobies Garden Centre followed by lunch at Toby Carvery, Speke, Cost £5 includes transport and lunch, pick ups will be 9.45 from Runcorn Old Town Bus Station and 10am Widnes Stobart Stadium and coming home we will be leaving Speke at 2pm for our return journey 

Trentham Gardens Monkey Forest/Gardens  – Saturday 14th June – Full day out to Trentham Gardens Monkey Forest/Gardens, this is for both yourselves and you’re cared for.  Cost of £5 will include transport and admission charges.  Pick up times 9am Stobart Stadium, Widnes, 9.15am Runcorn Old Town Bus Station, were we will head to Trentham Gardens Monkey Forest, cost includes a boat trip from Monkey Forest to Trentham Gardens, leaving time from Trentham Gardens will be 5pm 


ABBA tribute with Abbaglamma and tickets to Mamma Mia at the Opera House,

27th – 29th June £149 includes theatre ticket and coach travel from Runcorn/Widnes,

The package includes 2 nights half board accommodation, entertainment on Friday evening by the amazing tribute act ABBAGLAMMA who will get you in the mood to be a ‘Supertrouper’ for the weekend. Saturday evening there is a return coach to the Opera House with top price seats for Mamma Mia.

Sunday 13th July – I am sorry to inform you that our Swimming Pool party at Beechwood Swimming Baths, (private booking for our group only) at 4.30 followed by Sunday Lunch at Beechwood Pub is now cancelled.  The 13th July is also Disability Awareness Day at Walton Gardens, and a few of us have cared fors who perform on the day, BUT also when I phoned Beechwood Centre to see if we could have the 20th July, they informed me that that times have changed for private hire and its now Sunday at 6.20 – 7.20 which is a bit late when we want to have Sunday dinner as well, so when we have the next committee meeting, something else will be arranged for July.   

Monday 22nd September – Bowling and lunch in Widnes, charge will include your bowling and lunch. 

Charges for social events – It has been agreed that there will a £5 nominal charge for social events for HALDS members and their cared fors.  Non members will be charged full rate of costs. 

Voluntary week w/c 2/6/14 – HVA will be holding a quiz on Monday 2nd June (Runcorn) please let me know if you would be interested in HALDS forming a quiz, also on Friday 6th there is to be a picnic in the park (Hough Green) 3am – 8pm,  I will be getting more details nearer the time, but please know if you would be interested in attending.
