Newsletter –April 2015
In place of our normal meeting on Monday 20th April, we held our 6th Annual General Meeting at 1.30pm, where the following posts where nominated for the next 2 years.

We also decided to have an extra post of Social Secretary who will be Glenis Holmes, Glenis will be taking names for trips and events and also collecting monies at our monthly meetings.
Kath Tottle and Jacqui Stringer are also going to be running our raffle at the monthly meetings. If you have any donations for our monthly raffle i.e. bottles of wine, beer, chocolates etc.

Funding – I have put in our bid to the Lottery Awards for All for £10k which was £5k towards a Turkey & Tinsel weekend in December and the balance towards our social events for the next twelve months.
A few of us attended the Grangeway Get Together on Monday 13th April and we had a great time and will be attending more of the events, which are held on the 2nd Monday of each month. Anyone can go along to any of these events which are organised by Sure start to later life or the day trips on a Saturday and Meals out on a Sunday. I have information showing the dates and venues, please let me know if you want copies. (Suzanne is coming to our meeting in June to tell about Sure Start to Later Life)
Bond Hotel Friday 24th April – Pick ups will be Frodsham Community Centre at 12.30, Runcorn Old Town Bus Station at 12.45 and Widnes Stobart Stadium at 12.55.
There will be an optional fancy dress on the Sunday evening with 80s theme.
We will be leaving to come home on the Monday at 10.30amish. I have given out labels for your luggage which shows your room number, please ensure these labels are put on your luggage.
High Leigh Garden Centre followed by lunch at Barn Owl – Monday 11th May – Due to shortage of funds, HALDS will be paying for the coach (30 seater) to this event only, The coach will be leaving Runcorn Old Town Bus Station at 10am then onto High Leigh Garden Centre till 11.45 then onto the Barn Owl for Lunch, Members will have to pay for their own meal and drinks, I have menus to give out 2 courses is £7.50 and 3 course meal is £10.50. If you would still like to attend please let me have your meal money and choice of menu before end April.
Full day out in Southport – Saturday 25thth July –– We will be leaving Runcorn Old Town Bus station at 9.30am, and Widnes Stobbart Stadium at 9.40am. We will be leaving Southport to come home at 4.30pm and calling at a pub for an evening meal on the way home, if anyone knows of any pubs that would accommodate us all, please let me know. Cost will depend on whether we get funding from Awards for All.
Our House, Brindley Theatre, Thursday 21st May – Victoria Music are putting on the smash hit musical Our House at the Brindley Theatre. In total I have ordered 15 tickets for members who want to attend this musical.
It was decided at the meeting to hold a fund raising dance in September, date to be confirmed, it will be at the Beechwood Centre, Runcorn and tickets will be £3 as per usual, more information next month
Carers Assessment – If you have not had a carers review in the last 12 months, please telephone Adult Social Care on 0151 901 8306 and ask to have a review of your caring role, especially now the New Carers Act has come into place – DO NOT PUT IT OFF FOR ANOTHER DAY
I was thinking that maybe we could build up a list of businesses that we recommend i.e. tv repairs, washing machine repairs, tiler, electrician, gas fitter etc. So if you can recommend someone who has been to your house please let me know and we can build up a list for members
