NEWSLETTER – January 2017 

Here we are, into another year, cannot believe HALDS will be going into our 8th year in March, time has gone so fast, our group has grown considerably and its good to see we still have a high majority of the original members, (which was in fact 9)   We have had some very interesting speakers, where members have learnt a lot of information and also had some great times socially together with day trips, theatre trips and weekends away.  2017 is again going to be another action packed year for HALDS members and their families with holidays in Eurodisney, weekend in Llandudno and a range of social events all planned and booked.

Thank you for all your support over the past 12 months at HALDS activities and when we have been raising funds,  It was embarrassing (just slightly) when  I won the dolls house when it was drawn at the HALDS Christmas party, especially when I had made it known that I wanted to win it!!!!!!

The raffle for the dolls house raised £118 for HALDS funds and the Christmas Card collection tin £40.

Funding – I have applied for funding from Co-op, but we will not hear whether we are successful until April and I have also applied to the Masonic Charitable Foundation for £500, which will be reviewed at their next meeting mid January  and we should hear mid February on whether we where successful on this bid.  I also attended a funding workshop early December,  I will be putting together some bids and will let you know the outcome at Januarys meeting.

Committee members only – We will holding a committee meeting on Monday 23rd January in the small room at the Mencap Acorn Centre at 11am

If you need a copy of the Bond Hotel invoice for Direct Payments purposes please let me know and I will bring a copy along to our January meeting.

7th Birthday lunch – Instead of having a birthday party end Feb. We are going to go out for lunch on Monday 20th February to celebrate HALDS 7th birthday, venue will be decided at our committee meeting in January, but I am putting forward The Lawns restaurant in the Thornton Hotel, Leasowe Castle or The Red fox at Thornton Hough, Coach will be leaving Widnes at 11.20, Runcorn at 11.30, we will be arriving back 3.30 – 4pmish.   Please let me know asap if you would like to attend, to enable me to book correct size transport.  Cost will be £5 for HALDS members.    

Chitty, Chitty, Bang, Bang, Thursday 12th January at Lowry Theatre, Manchester 7.30 performance. Coach will be leaving Runcorn Old Town Bus station 5.50 and Widnes Stobart Stadium 6pm.

Billy Elliott,  Wednesday 25th January, at Palace Theatre, Manchester at 7.30.  Coach will be leaving Runcorn Old Town Bus station 5.50 and Widnes Stobart Stadium 6pm.

Old Dock  Experience/museums/lunch, Wed 15th Feb – Cost will be £5 for HALDS & Non Halds members, but non HALDS members to pay for their own meal. Please let me know if you are interested, monies to be paid by end Jan

The Wiz, Brindley Theatre, 8th March, this is an upbeat version of the Wizard of Oz, Cost for HALDS members £5, Non HALDS £16, Please let me know if you are interested, monies to be paid by end Feb

Eurodisney – 11th March for 5 days, this trip is now booked and deposits paid, therefore unable to add any other members onto the trip.  For members attending Eurodisney a separate notice will be sent to you with all information about the trip. 

St Asaph Mill/Bodelwydden Castle – Originally this trip was for Saturday 11th March, due to Eurodisney trip would members mind if we changed this event to Saturday 25th March, this would then be a full day event first going to Bodelwyddan Castle then proceeding to  St Asaph Mill for shopping, please let me know if  this is okay? Cost would be £5 for HALDS members. We would be leaving Runcorn at 9.30am  and arriving home 7pmish

Monday 10th April, Tour of St Georges Hall, Liverpool/lunch, Cost £5 for all, but non HALDS to pay for their own meal

12th May – Marlborough Hotel, Llandudno, full weekend event, from Friday 12th May till Monday 15th, cost £160 per person, but we do have lottery funding to put towards this weekend away, please let me know if interested.  If you are wanting to come along to Llandudno  weekend, could you please let me know by Januarys meeting as I need to finalise the actual cost.  Deposits are also required by January meeting of £50 per person.  Please make cheques payable to The Marlborough Hotel.

If you have any subjects you would like covering at one of HALDS meetings, please let me know and I will see if I can get a speaker.  Also if you want to advertise an event in our monthly newsletter or if you have anything you would like me to take to our meetings please let me know.
