Mays meetings was our AGM were all the positions where  proposed and seconded as we were at the end of our 2 year period.  Followed by a visit from Palacefields Ukulele band, who provided us with a  good sing song and even had us up dancing .

 

Colin Rotherham proposed and Jacqui Stringer seconded  Bill Tottle to continue being our Chairperson,  Maria Woods proposed and Irene Pendleton seconded for John Llorca to continue as Treasurer and Glenis Holmes proposed and Mo Appleton seconded for Pam Roberts to continue as secretary

 

Our Annual Report was read out and our audited accounts where shown to members attending the meeting.  If you were unable to attend and would like a copy please ask and I will send copies  to you.

 

We asked for volunteers for organising teas and and coffees at  the meetings and Carol and Anna have volunteered for this role.  Many thanks to Jan & Tommy Doyle for sorting out teas and coffees for the past couple of years.  We also have Glenis and Irene who will be taking money and issuing receipts at meetings for monies paid for trips.

 

Funding: – I have applied to Halton Borough Council for our £1,580 which we receive annually for our monthly meetings costs.

 

At todays meetings we took £46 on raffle and sale of cards and handbags given to us by Brenda Hayes,  plus we also had £10 donated by Brenda Hayes from sale of goods she sold for us and also £10 from Brenda Llorca for sale of knitted items. Thank you to both Brendas for their donations.

 

This Wednesday 26th April is our Arbonne Pamper party, which is for both men and woman.  It  will be a good social evening so  please come along and support this event as all proceeds from raffle and refreshments go towards HALDS funds.

 

Monday 8th May, we are having an Art/craft session at the old B & Q building in Widnes 10am – 12 followed by lunch at Bowers Park, there are 2/4 places left if anyone is interested in attending, this is free of charge.

 

12th May – Marlborough Hotel, Llandudno,  Pick up times from Widnes Stobart stadium is 1pm and Runcorn Old Town Bus station 1.10pm.  We should be arriving at Hotel 2.30 approx. where we will be served afternoon tea.  For those going in their own cars, the hotel has asked me to ask if you could you please let me know your estimated time of arrival.

 

Mon 5th June – Tour Lowry/Shopping in Lowry Outlet –  Leaving Runcorn Old Town bus station 10am, Widnes Stobart Stadium 10.10am.  11am tour of Lowry , this includes a guided tour of The Lowry building where you will discover some quirky facts about The Lowrys design and development along with a brief  history of the Manchester Ship Canal from docks to a new leisure destination.  You will then have a tour of the Galleries, where you can learn more about their namesake LS Lowry with an introduction to the man and his work, followed by free time in the Lowry Outlet.   Estimate time back in Runcorn 4.30pm – Cost is £5, there are still places available for this trip. –All monies to be paid by end May.

 

St Asaph Mill/Bodelwydden Castle – Saturday 10th June, this will be a full day event.  Coach will be leaving Runcorn at 9.30, first calling at Bodelwyddan Castle for a self guided tour of the castle and grounds, leaving Bodelwyddan at 2pm, proceeding to St Asaph Mill for shopping.  Back to Runcorn 6.30pmish Cost will be £5  – All money to be paid by end May

 

Friday 7th July – Fund raising games evening – Rock ‘n’ Roll bingo and Play your cards right, bring own drink and supper – doors open 7pm for 7.30pm start

 

Sunday 16th July – Summer evening cruise on Mersey – A 2 hour evening cruise which features live music, a licensed bar and spectacular views of Liverpool’s unique world heritage waterfront. Boarding at Seacombe, Wirral at 7.30pm ,   Coach will be leaving Runcorn Old Town Bus station at 6pm and returning home 10.30pm approx.  Cost is £10 per person,  sorry no under 18s allowed due to licensing restrictions.  Please let me know if you would like to attend this event. Money to be paid by end May

 

Emmerdale visit – We will going to be visiting Emmerdale on Saturday 16th September, coach will be leaving Runcorn at 8.30am for a full day event.  Firstly we visit the Emmerdale village, where we are booked on the tour at 10.30am, it’s a hour and half tour of the village.  We then leave the village about 1pm  for a half hour journey to the Emmerdale Experience in Leeds.   We are booked on the 2.10pm tour, which lasts 75 minutes.  Cost for the full day event will be £10 for HALDS members and £50 for non members.   Money to be paid by end July – Due to numbers increasing  our tours in the afternoon are now 2.10 and 2.20pm so arrival back to Runcorn will be 6pm/6.30pmish.  Don’t know where we will fit lunch in, maybe take a packed lunch with you and get a drink at either Village or Experience

 

Monday 30th October 2017 Billy & Wally show at Brindley theatre where the theme for the evening is 60s music.  This is a real good feel show with plenty of laughter and singing. Cost is £10 for HALDS members and £22 for non members.

Please let me know by end May if you want to attend, as adding extra tickets has an extra cost of £1 per ticket when purchased separately.

 

 

 

Friday 3rd Nov – Body Shop Christmas shopping party – Fund raising Body Shop party with discounts on Christmas items

 

Wicked – 12th March 2018,  Empire Theatre, Liverpool  – This trip is now full,

Halton Carers Centre is holding a Tea Dance on Thursday 25th May at Churchill Hall, Cooper Street, Runcorn from 2pm – 4pm.  This will be a fun afternoon learning new dance routines.
